Custom .dotx Templates
A .dotx file is a Microsoft Word Template. You design it in Word with your school's branding — EduQuest Pro fills in the question content when exporting.
What your .dotx template controls:
- check_circleSchool logo and letterhead
- check_circleHeader and footer text (school name, address, year)
- check_circleFont family and size for headings and body text
- check_circlePage margins and layout
- check_circleColor scheme (if any) via Word styles
Creating a .dotx File
- 1
Open Microsoft Word
Start with a blank document. Google Docs exports may not preserve all formatting — use Word for best results.
- 2
Design your header
Go to Insert → Header. Add your school logo (Insert → Pictures), school name, address, and any other details. Apply formatting as desired.
- 3
Design your footer
Go to Insert → Footer. Add page numbers, exam date placeholder, or other standard footer content.
- 4
Set body styles
Go to Home → Styles. Customize Heading 1, Heading 2, and Normal styles to set the fonts and sizes that questions and options should use.
- 5
Set page margins
Go to Layout → Margins. Set your preferred margins (standard is 1 inch all sides, exam papers often use 0.75 inches).
- 6
Save as .dotx
Go to File → Save As → Word Template (*.dotx). Save the file to your computer.
Uploading a Template
- 1
Go to Settings → Export Templates

- 3
Upload the .dotx file
Drag and drop your .dotx file or click Browse. Files up to 5 MB are supported.
- 4
